Statutory Framework (Law No. 24/2014)

Under the Whistleblower Protection Act of the Maldives (Law No. 24/2014), Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) maintains an official institutional mechanism to receive, evaluate, and investigate disclosures of improper conduct in state-owned enterprises.

The law provides absolute statutory immunity and protection against civil, criminal, disciplinary, or employment retaliation for individuals making disclosures in good faith.

Scope of Reportable Conduct

Bribery & Corruption

Soliciting or accepting kickbacks, extortion, procurement tampering, or improper vendor favors.

Financial Fraud & Embezzlement

Misappropriation of state assets, falsification of financial statements, or invoice manipulation.

Aviation Safety & Security Violations

Deliberate breaches of airside safety SOPs, concealment of safety hazards, or air navigation safety violations.

Abuse of Authority & Harassment

Gross abuse of official power, nepotism, workplace intimidation, or discriminatory practices.

  • Anonymous Submission Option: Reports may be filed without revealing your identity or personal contact details.
  • Strict Identity Redaction: When contact details are provided, identity information is encrypted and accessible only by designated Whistleblower Protection Officers.
  • Protection Against Retaliation: Any retaliatory act (such as termination, demotion, suspension, or harassment) against a whistleblower is a criminal offense under Maldivian law.

Investigation & Resolution Process

Step 01Triage & Logging

Report is assigned a tracking reference key and evaluated by Whistleblower Officers.

Evidence is independently gathered, audited, and reviewed without disclosing reporter identity.

Step 03Action & Oversight

Findings are referred to the Board Audit Committee, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), or Law Enforcement.
