COVID-19 Guidelines

All the Arriving and Departure passengers at Velana International Airport must note the general post COVID-19 preventive guidlines below. 

Arrival Passengers 

  •  Tourists arriving at the Velana International Airport will be provided 30 days on arrival Tourist Visa at the airport. Tourists are not subjected to any quarantine measures upon entering to the Maldives. However, tourists must have hotel reservation confirmation to stay from a certified tourist facility in the Maldives.
  • All arriving passengers, including tourists and other visitors (traveling for short-term or official purposes and not subjected to 14 days quarantine), must present COVID-19 Negative PCR Test Result. The PCR result should be issued not more than 96hrs before departure, continuing the first port of embarkation reroutes to the Maldives. The document containing the result must clearly show the laboratory's name and address, the result, date of testing, and the issuing officer's name and signature. Possession of a PCR Negative result does not preclude the authorities subjecting such passengers to screening or any other surveillance measures at the airport.
  • The following categories of travelers are exempted from pre-arrival PCR test requirements; 
      - Citizens of the Maldives 
      - Holders of Valid work permit or work visa 
      - Holders of any other resident permit 
      - Flight crew arriving on General Declaration
  • Apart from Flight crew, all the passengers in the above categories are required to undergo mandatory home quarantine for 14 days according to the Health Protection Agency's guideline.
  • Expatriates traveling to the Maldives shall hold a valid visa issued by Maldives Immigration. 
  • All arrival passengers should complete the online Health Declaration form before arrival. (But not exceed 24hours before arrival time.) 
 
  • All arrival passengers at Velana International Airport should report the Immigration counter if they have a fever, runny nose, cough, or breathing difficulties or report directly to the International Border Health Counter at the airport. 
  • A passenger develops any of COVID-19 symptoms or exposure to COVID -19 on arrival to the Maldives will need to do the necessary health checkups from the interview booths at VIA.  
  • All arrival passengers are required to wear facemask following applicable health guidelines. It is highly recommended for passengers always to have an extra mask when they travel. 
  • All arrival passengers must follow and cooperate with the measures taken in the airport, such as maintaining physical distancing.

 

 

Departure Passengers 

  • All the departure passengers must have the full health requirements for the country they are traveling. Departure passengers must carry the required test result with them when they are arriving at the departure Check-In Counter. 
  • All departure passengers must complete the online Health Declaration form, and this must fill before the time of departure but not exceed 24hours before the time of departure. 
  • As per border health and aviation procedure, passengers having fever, cough, or shortness of breath or a history of contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID 19 within the past 14 days are advised not to travel to the Maldives or present themselves at VIA. 
  • All the passengers are required to wear facemask all the time following applicable health guidelines. It is highly recommended that passengers take an extra mask when they travel. 
  • Passengers must follow and cooperate with the preventive measures taken at the airport, such as maintain physical distancing.

Measures and Guidelines of Maamahi Executive Lounge 

The clients and passengers entering the Maamahi Executive Lounge at Velana International Airport must follow the following preventive measures. 

 

Booking and Reservations 

  •  Prebooking or reservations are to be made via e-mail (cip@macl.aero) along with the completed CIP service application form five hours before the scheduled Arrival/Departure time. 
  • Any amendments to the requested booking should be notified via e-mail, four hours prior to the scheduled Arrival/Departure time. 
  • The bookings will be econfirmed subjected to availability, and any last minute bookings shall not be confirmed. 
  • During the post COVID-19 operations bookings for accompanying guests will not be approved. Hence, no accompanying guests will be allowed to the Maamahi Executive Lounge. 

 

Guidelines for Arrival and Departure Passengers 

  • Any individuals, including the Client and Passengers entering the Maamahi Executive Lounge, shall undergo temperature screening through a thermal scanner or medical infrared thermometer before entering the premises. 
  • All Arrival and Departure passengers must complete the Health Declaration form and get the completion code or the QR code. 
  • Departure passengers should notify the Maamahi Executive Lounge of estimated arrival time of the passenger into the lounge. 
  • It is mandatory to wear a facemask and maintain the social distancing as displayed at the entrance and inside the Lounge area. 
  •  The maximum number of personnel entering the lobby area is limited to not exceeding four at the given time. 
  • For Arrival bookings the clients is to meet the passenger after the passport control and shall be allowed once to meet the passenger. 
  • For arrival passengers the number of personnel allowed to meet the passenger is strictly limited to one. Priority will be given to the booked client however, upon request from the client personel other than the booked client shall be allowed to meet the passenger. 
  • Non-contact greeting methods shall be used, and contact-free procedures are to be conducted to maintain physical distancing. 
  • All Arrival and Departure passengers shall be escorted inside the Maamahi Lounge by the assigned employee. 
  • To minimize direct contacts only the assigned employee from the Maamahi Executive Lounge shall carryout relevant tasks as requested by the Client/Passenger.
